Trick # 1
Set up a self service snack drawer
This will create independence and a healthy relationship with
foods.
Allow your kids to have their own snack drawer in the
refrigerator. These snacks can include cucumbers, apples, celery sticks,
almonds, peanuts and so much more.
Chiuldren get excited when they are left to do things
for themselves without any supervision . So give them the opportunity to have their own private
snack drawer in the refridgator and
outide of it.
·
Have a variey of
snacks
This keeps things interesting for kids as they have choices. When kids
have a choice over their food they are much more likely to eat what is in front
of them
·
Set guidelines or
rules
Of course, you don’t want to have too
many rules because that ruins the fun. A couple guidelines to keep everything
organized and under control should be all you need.
1.
Let your kids know
that there are no refills until the next week. So when a FAVOURITE item is
gone, thats it for the week.
2.
Allow for only two
items
a day ONE ONE WHICH MUST BE A FRUIT
Having healthy snacks ready to eat is a great way to make sure your family has
access to nutritious food in between meals. However, you
still need to be careful that these snacks are being controlled.
Trick # 2
pLAY WITH YOUR FOODS
Kids are interested with fun
and play. As parents and caregivers you
need to associate food time with fun time.
Allow your kids to play with
their foods and be a part of that meal preparation as well. Make things inteesting for them to eat.
